5 simple ways to avoid paying trotro fare every day
Trotro is not just the preferred mode of transportation for the majority of Ghanaians, but it is also the least expensive. And also with good reason. Taxi prices are typically three times higher (and even six times higher when you charter) than what trotros would charge for any short trip. However, it is no longer the most affordable form of transportation in Ghana due to the constantly rising trotro fares.
Nowadays, using your feet to get around in Ghana is the most affordable option. But if you're still looking for a cheap method to spend some time playing trotro, we've got you covered.
Here are all the methods to save money on trotro fares in Ghana; believe us, they work!
1. Preaching
Who would dare to ask a preacher man for money, given how deeply devout Ghana is? (We know some really obstinate mates would). Just be sure to do some research and carefully select your bus after you've tested the waters. As soon as the trip begins, pull out your backpack and begin sharing the Bible's uplifting message. One of the other passengers will undoubtedly pay the mate in your place if the mate is very obstinate and keeps requesting money.
2. Wear a uniform
There is a condition in the case of uniforms on Ghanaian buses: keep the uniform's appearance. This should be simpler for you if you are a current officer in the police, army, or navy. Yet, if you must fake it, present yourself in a credible manner.
3. Sit behind someone you know
Make sure you are seated comfortably behind someone you know, such as a neighbor, aunt, lecturer, or teacher, as they will have to pay for you before the conductor reaches your row. Bus conductors (mates) in Ghana typically start collecting their money from the front. It is a RULE!
4, Sell medication
Please see point #1 for further details. Selling drugs in a trotro is as effective as giving sermons while driving. You only need to offer medications that treat common illnesses in Ghana, such as painkillers, vitality boosters, or dewormers, notably dewormers, without needing to be a certified drug vendor or have medical training.
5.Pick the bus of your driver/mate friend
It is always possible to avoid paying bus fares by using an old classmate who is now a driver's companion or even the driver himself.
You now know how to take advantage of free transportation in Ghana. If any of them work for you, let us know.
